1. WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Mooigezicht Estates is well known for its commitment to a hygienic, clean, safe and healthy working environment for all its employees. Safety and health supervisors are trained to maintain the status of our exceptional product and the well being of our labour force.

2. ACCREDITATIONS
The Company is proud to claim adherence to all relevant international accreditations for table grapes, as well as local legislation protecting the rights and privileges of its management and staff. These include, amongst others, TESCO NATURE’S CHOICE, GLOBALGAP, SEDEX, E.T.I. (working and living conditions of employees).

3. HOUSING
The 10 farming units of Mooigezicht Estates currently provide housing for 180 families living and working amongst the vineyards. All houses are fully equipped with infrastructure to allow for modern living standards. Strict discipline is maintained to ensure the safety, health and social development of the people. Everyone living on the Estate has access to clear mountain stream water as well as electricity. Kitchens and bathrooms are fully equipped with modern sewerage systems.

4. CRECHES
The well-being of our employees’ children is one of our key focus areas. 150 children attend the 6 fully-equipped child care and pre-school centres located on the various farms. Teachers are trained at Boland College, Worcester. Their weekly education programme is monitored by Mrs Beatrice Joubert (an ex Pre-Primary school principal). Two meals are provided daily.

5. PENSIONS SCHEMES
Since 1995 all permanent employees of the Company are members of a provident fund with pension, funeral and disability advantages. Mooigezicht Estates currently has 240 members contributing on a monthly basis towards the pension fund. All the administration costs are covered by the employer and the local control executed by own head office. The mother Insurance Company is SANLAM / FUTURA which has a membership of 20,000.

6. SPORT FACILITIES
Mooigezicht Estates provides soccer and netball fields for the recreation of their employees. These and the clubhouse facilities are also utilised by schools and neighbouring farms in the northern part of the Hex River Valley.

7. CHOIRS
The spiritual and emotional development of our people is encouraged by participating in choir performances. The varied singing and dancing abilities of the different ethnic groups are well represented.

8. TRANSPORT
Free transport is provided to all employees and their children throughout the week and weekends. This would include commuting between their homes and the workplace as well as to shops , medical services, recreation, meetings in the community, churches etc. The Department of Education supplies an efficient bus service for all scholars.

A distinct advantage of Mooigezicht as a producer is the proximity of our farming units to abundant sources of labour. Apart from our 400 employees living on the Estate, the balance of our 1000 plus workforce during our long production season, commute to work daily and are able to return home in the evenings. These are not migrant laboureres. The laboureres live in residential areas close to facilities such as hospital, medical, commercial, religious, education and recreational facilities and all people are cared for and respected.
